Vénicia GUINOT (South Africa)
Chair & CEO at TROPICS MEDIA GROUP
Born on January 7th in Brazzaville, Vénicia GUINOT is certainly one of those young inspiring media personalities from Africa who started their companies with next to nothing. Starting from scratch at the age of 23 with a single wish, keeping her late father (Marcel BAVOUEZA-GUINOT) legacy alive was her only desire. And she has, since 2009, worked hard to be recognized as a Multimedia Journalist holding the titles of Publisher, Media Entrepreneur, Executive Producer, Radio Host and Influencer.
GUINOT boasts a formidable career that has seen her been named among France-based AFRICA DILIGENCE magazine's "Top 100 Pan-African Influential Young Leaders" with a mission to challenge Pan-African leaders to better governance and economic sustainability. In March 2016, she earned the "DIVA Editor of the Year" at the 2016 edition of the DIVAS OF COLOUR AWARDS in London, United Kingdom. Her leadership style is primarily visionary and consistent with her entrepreneurial background.
GUINOT currently serves as the Publisher & Editor-in-Chief of www.tropics-magazine.com where she oversees the publication and also holds all its worldwide licenses. Starting from October 2015, she serves as Senior Executive Member by the MIRIAM MAKEBA FOUNDATION in South Africa with the likes of the respectable Mr. Nelson Lumumba LEE, H.E. Dr. Nkosazana DLAMINI-ZUMA, Winnie MADIKIZELA- MANDELA, Graça MACHEL, Angelique KIDJO, etc.
As one of Africa’s young power-players in the media industry, her primary goal is to change the way Africa handles its own image and she makes great use of each media platform she comes across to its advantage. She founded the TROPICS MEDIA GROUP, a sought after media group based in Johannesburg that manages a portfolio of international brands, magazines and digital products. Combining a mix of professional leadership development and business strategy, GUINOT works with both professionals and companies to use communication as an effective tool to reach the masses and to “pave the way forward” for the next generations.
In September 2016, she founded the TROPICS BUSINESS SUMMIT which will kick-off in October 2017 to help Entrepreneurs to build synergies and potential investors to source out bankable projects on the African continent.
